There are many fruits which are in the list of baking ingredients but bananas make it to the top of it. Bananas are powerhouse of nutrition and leaves a natural flavor to the delicacies. Apart from flavor, bananas adds natural sweetness and moistness, thus making it easy for the baker to reduce the amount of refined sugar and butter which are often counted in the unhealthy items list. This healthy banana muffins recipe will make you go bananas! Your home will be full of fresh banana fragrance anytime you use bananas in baking. In this recipe, I have used overripe bananas as they are more sweet and adds extra moisture. In this way, add less sugar and butter, thus you can maintain this healthy recipe. Also check out this moist and tender banana bread recipe that you will love along with your family.

Ingredients required for banana muffins

  1. 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  2. 3 tablespoons Jaggery/sugar/ healthy sugar substitutes (as preferred)
  3. 3 tablespoons yogurt
  4. 2 tablespoon butter/healthy butter substitutes
  5. 2 medium sized bananas (overripe)
  6. 2-3 tablespoons milk
  7. Any essence of your choice
  8. Nuts of your choice
  9. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  10. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  11. 1 pinch salt


  1. Preheat the oven at 180° C and prepare a muffins mold tray by spraying butter/oil.
  2. Cream together jaggery and butter.
  3. Add yogurt and mix well.
  4. Blend bananas into the mixture. You can even use mashed bananas, I prefer blended ones as the flavor spreads evenly throughout.
  5. Add milk and essence into the mixture.
  6. Sieve together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt into the mixture.
  7. Add nuts and fold lightly.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Tadaaa! Mouth watering banana muffins are ready to melt in your mouth. The bananas make it smell so good and you can experience it once they are out of the oven. Consume it warm right from the oven or chill it in the refrigerator.
